The Peavey Family

John Peavey and his sons and grandsons represent the third-, fourth- and fifth-generations of Flat Top Sheep Company, located in the Pioneer Mountains north of Carey, Idaho. Their sheep graze at elevations of 4,000 to 9,500 feet, enjoying lush feed and fresh, mountain water. The sheep-ranching lifestyle provides an intimacy with both the landscape and animals as the seasons change and the lambs grow.

In addition to ranching, John and his wife, Diane Josephy Peavey, work hard at sharing the experience of the ranching lifestyle. Years ago, they created the Trailing of the Sheep Festival to educate people about the amazing history, culture and work traditions ingrained in their own lives. As a result, people get to experience the living history of sheep-ranching, amid the soaring mountains and high desert of Idaho.

Our ranchers are the heart and soul of our company.
